new faces = facial expressions in development?
A lot of people are talking about these new faces, and I have to say it's some hilarious stuff (rotten teeth LOL), but all kidding aside does anyone think this is the first step in getting facial expressions and moving mouths? Any experts in modelling notice tell-tale signs of possible facial expressions?

The only facial movement I have seen so far is eye blinking. So may be they are to develop that too

having propper expressions would be cool. the only thing i feel that detracts from the look of the game is how the NPC's gont jesture and such when you speak to them.

Yeah, I just read through that whole thread about the new faces and Gaile confirms that lips will move in the new cutscenes. I'm wondering how far they'll take it though. I would love a /talk emote like in WoW (would lead to some great community made movies) or even /angry, /sad, etc....
They also removed a lot of jewelry from characters that previously had it so I'm speculating with Nightfall you'll be able to add jewelry to your characters. I wonder if Rubies and Sapphires will be used for that. If they add jewelry how much would you like to see added? Earrings, rings, necklaces, face piercings? I wonder if jewelry will have stats or be purely astetic.

anyone not want crap like this ingame? please, please say so... aesthetics need to take back seat to the actual game (read: pvp, and pve content)

Don't automatically assume that development of shinies will detract from core PvE and PvP improvements. Aesthetics are important, I don't want to play an ugly game, PvE or PvP.

Only in the new cutscenes? Nothing like not even trying to keep some level of consistency in what is pretty much one game being continually expanded, regardless of the fact that they can be played standalone.

Yip; they had to remap the faces for animation so they can actually move the lips in cutscenes.

I noticed my ritualist kept blinking her eyes today. Is this new or has it always been there?

FWIW: when GW was released, the models didn't blink. That was added later. That doesn't prove much but it proves one thing: the engine is versatile enough that it supports changes to the animation of the models.
So... it's at least not impossible that facial animations are in the works.

I kind of assumed that due to the religious overtones of many of the ressurection spells that it was a two-part process: 1), Heal the body's physical wounds, and 2), Restore the player's essence to its form.
